Meet Sara Gruen!
Sara Gruen is the best selling Canadian author of Water for Elephants. She was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and was raised in London, Ontario. Gruen attended Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario studying English Literature. To peruse her writing career, Gruen moved to the United States in 1999. Gruen's career had a rocky start, she was turned down by many publishers numerous times but didn't let rejection stop her from writing. In 2006, Gruen's book Water for Elephants became New York Times Best Seller and later on sold over one million copies and translated into over forty-three languages. Gruen achieved many awards for her novels including: being the BookSense #1 pick for June 2006, the Bookbrowse Diamond Award Best Book 2006, the Cosmo Fun Fearless Fiction Award 2007 and many more. in 2011, her book Water for Elephant got its own film adaptation starting Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon.
Currently, Gruen lives happily in Western North Carolina with her husband, three sons and several animals.
